Starbreeze på investerarkonferens
Den 29 maj kommer Starbreezes VD Johan Kristiansson att presentera företaget och den dagsaktuella kvartalsrapporten på seminariet ”Stockholm Corporate Finance Small Cap dag 2008”.
En webcast från presentationen kommer att göras tillgänglig 29 maj kl 18.00 på denna webbplats Att bolaget väljer att presentera rapporten inför investerare under dessa former torde innebära att vi kan förväntas oss en del goda nyheter.
Spel blir större än film
Todd Eckert, producent av filmen Control som prisbelönades i Cannes, anser att elektroniska spel har möjlighet att bli större än film.
"Technology has advanced so much that we can now, believably, portray human situations in games and people can now interact meaningfully with these characters and their stories – that's something you just can't do in film.
Because of this, videogames have the potential to be the world’s dominant medium. They are not quite there yet, but I believe a continuing focus on creating games that not only sell, but more importantly mean something, will bring them to that level," säger Eckert till Games Industry
Starbreeze befinner sig i pole position.
The Darkness har sålt 1,6 miljoner exemplar
i en intervju att spelet The Darkness hade sålt 1,6 miljoner exemplar i hela världen. Han svarade också på frågan om hur det går med planerna att göra film av The Darkness.
JS: Speaking of video games, where are we in the development of "The Darkness 2"?
FS: I can't officially confirm a sequel. I can say that the first video game went platinum and sold over 1.6 million copies worldwide. Everyone's pretty happy with how it did and we're looking forward to seeing where the franchise goes from here.
JS: If Witchblade is the number one franchise at Top Cow, then The Darkness is certainly number two. Is there potential for a Darkness movie?
FS: Sure. We have a ton of interest right now from Hollywood (largely thanks to the success of the video game). We'll be looking at our options and assuming we can find the right folks to partner with on the project we'll move forward. The key is finding the right people who understand that we want to be involved and this is a property that is near and dear to us. It was because Starbreeze and 2K were so open to working with us and really understood the heart of the character that the video game was so successful and true to the comic.

The Darkness på väg till biograferna?
Redan i december 2005 skrev bland andra Hollywood North Report att bröderna Pang skulle göra film av Top Cows serietidning The Darkness. Frågan om filmen har sedan dess dykt upp lite då och då. Marc Silvestri på Top Cow sade tidigt förra året enligt spelsajten Kotaku att
"The Darkness," will "absolutely" be made into a movie as well, Silvestri promised, mentioning that a script is currently being developed, and when the game hits shelves in May, "We're anticipating that [the film will] suddenly become fast-tracked."
Nu tycks Top Cow fått ordentligt flyt på planerna att göra filmer av sina tidningar. Nyligen har det släppts pressreleaser om att både Witchblade och Wanted blir film, den senare med Angelina Jolie i huvudrollen.

Det skulle inte förvåna mig om det snart dyker upp en pressrelease om att även The Darkness är på väg till biograferna. Om Silvestris uppgifter stämmer, om att spelet The Darkness 2 redan är under produktion, så kan man tänka sig att filmen släpps i samband med spelet.

If you look into your crystal ball. How do you think Starbreeze will look in ten years?
– I hope that we will then be established as one of the most innovative game studios in the world, that our typical budget for a game will exceed 500 million kronor, that our games gain an average rating of over 90 percent at Metacritics.com and that as a rule we publish editions in excess of 5 million copies.
